Chinese Zodiac Signs
I was visiting a Buddhist temple the other day when I came across this cabinet display some of the Chinese Zodiac signs.
Despite what it says in English the first animal is the Rat and not mouth while the fifth animal is the Dragon and not Snake! The other zodiac signs seen here are the Snake, Rabbit and Tiger.
These animals correspond to recent and future years in the zodiac with the Rat 2008, the Ox 2009, the Tiger 2010, the Rabbit 2011 and the Dragon 2012.
Coincidentally today is the start of the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rabbit.
The idea by the way in case you are wondering is that you make a small donation in the pot in front of one of the Chinese Zodiac signs on display to bring you good luck.
The photograph is taken at Wat Ko Lak Prachuap Khiri Khan where it was difficult to avoid the slight reflection in the glass showcase.
