Lisu Woman and Baby-Thai Hill Tribes

Lisu hill tribe woman with baby in Thailand

The Lisu are one of the six main hill tribes that inhabit parts of Northern Thailand. The Lisu are thought to have originated in Tibet and can now be found in modern day Myanmar, Thailand, South Western China and parts of India.

This photograph was taken in a hill tribe village that I visited while trekking in Northern Thailand near Chiang Mai.

You will notice the lady is carrying the baby in a sling on here back which is a common sight and I saw several women and very young children working on the steep hillsides in rice paddies.
