Cat Nap-Photographic Idiom

A cat taking a cat nap cat napping

Taking a cat nap or cat napping is an English idiom meaning to take a short sleep or doze usually this is not in bed. Some people refer to it as taking forty winks while others might say snooze or even take a siesta.

My guess is that the saying originates from the ability of cats to doze off anywhere, just like the cat in this image, who is definitely taking a cat nap!

I wonder what the cat is dreaming about given that it is in a grave yard.
