A Twist in the Tale-Photographic Idiom

A twist in the tale photo idiom showing a cow having its tail twisted to facilitate loading into a truck in Thailand

A twist in the tale is an English idiom/phrase meaning that a story takes an unexpected turn, it might also mean something unexpectedly happening.

English is a difficult language to learn because many words sound similar but are spelled differently. Take tale and tail for example. The cow in the photograph is clearly having its tail twisted, while my little post is a tale about the phrase a twist in the tale.

By the way the cow in question was safely loaded into the pick-up, which is the standard way of moving cattle around here!
