Thai Temple Festival

Food laid out in an offering at a Thai temple festival

When I attended Wat Dan Singkhon for the Chofah ceremony at the weekend there were several other activities taking place. In this photograph you can see a group of white clad worshippers who have prepared an offering as part of this Thai temple festival.

It is common among Thailand’s Buddhist community to go on a retreat or pilgrimage to a Wat for a few days perhaps to pray and meditate. Usually such “pilgrims” wear white clothes. So my guess is that the group were staying the weekend for the chofah ceremony.

Incidentally a short while after this shot was taken the food that is laid out on the table was shared amongst those attending the festival.
