Indochinese Bushlark on the ground in Thailand

The Indochinese Bushlark(Mirafra marionae) is a resident bird of Thailand. Here near Prachuap Khiri Khan I am on the Southern extreme of this birds range. I was actually returning home in my truck, after looking for some Asian Openbills(large Stork like birds)that have been seen in the area, when I spotted the Indochinese Bushlark on a fence post near the trail.

I opened the truck window and listened to him singing away less than 6 feet from where I was sitting. Unfortunately as soon as I moved the camera he moved too. However I still managed this shot whilst he was on the ground nearby where he was really well camouflaged in the short grass.

Equipment: Canon EOS 1000D 55-250mm Lens

Mike, we always have to satisfy with only one or two photos.

Birds are so fast that one good photo is always a good prize. Most of the time I miss even that one prize. I like this Bushlark because it looks like many of the birds I see. The head shape looks different than those though, so it has a very interesting difference to them.

Rainfields this is true, I guess one should be happy, although if you read todays post you will see I got my wish!

Ratty, I agree about getting the perfect shot. Mind you a lot is down to equipment and my lens are not really suited to good bird photography.
