The Common Tailorbird(Orthotomus sutorius)is a fairly common bird of Thailand and is found throughout the country. It is a very small Wren like bird that usually has its tail cocked. I have a pair of Common Tailorbird’s that visit the garden, you can always hear them before you see them. Their high pitched and repetitive pit-pit-pit call is easy to distinguish.
They like to dodge through the lush growth of the plants which makes them extremely difficult to photograph. Fortunately the other day one of the birds (the male I think) perched on electric cables nearby and I managed to get this photograph using the zoom lens.
The colours in the photograph are slightly washed, since the back of the bird is quite green and it has a reddish crown.
