Ganesha statue at a Buddhist Shrine in Thailand

The close links between Thai Buddhism and Hinduism are demonstrated in this photograph taken at a Thai temple showing the Hindu deity Ganesha at a small shrine. Ganesha, takes the form of half human and half elephant and in Thai Buddhism it is worshipped to bring good fortune and remove obstacles from trade or business.

Therefore Ganesha is linked to the arts, education and trade in Thailand.

This photograph was taken at Wat Huai Luk in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.
