Huay Yang Waterfall National Park is located in Prachuap Khiri Khan province about 25km south of the provincial capital of the same name. The park is relatively small but contains several waterfalls with the watercourses flowing down from the hills that separate Thailand and Myanmar.
The waterfalls are at their best in the rainy season between June and November, however the park, aside from containing the normal flora and fauna, is also the home to millions of butterflies. The insects come to the falls to feed on the rich mineral deposits and are best viewed in May each year.
This photograph was taken in May when the water was hardly flowing, there were however thousands of butterflies around.
Entrance to the park is free for Thai nationals but costs foreigners 100 Baht and 30 Baht for a car.
