Green Sandstone Buddha Wihan Noi

Located within the grounds of Wat Nah Phra Men, Ayutthaya, is a small wihan house, Wihan Noi, which is also referred to as Wihan Kian. This wihan/vihara, was a resting place or refuge for wandering monks. It contains a large green sandstone Buddha image from the Dvaravadi period in history and is thought to be 1,500 years old.

    If it's 1500 years old, it's amazingly well-preserved! He has such a beautiful, peaceful face here — I like it. And the ornate patterns decorating it too, of course.
