White Rabbits-British Superstition

Lucky the white rabbit in my garden in Thailand

On the first day of each month a British superstition is that you should say “White Rabbits” three times before you utter anything else. This is supposed to bring you good luck for the rest of the month. Now quite were this saying originates from I am not sure, but it may have something to do with witchcraft(evil black cats). Also a rabbits foot is considered a lucky charm, although perhaps not for the rabbit!

The white rabbit in today’s photograph seen relaxing in a storm drain, was a family pet here in Thailand until he met an untimely end when some soi dogs(street dogs) got into the garden where the rabbit had been left unattended.

The rabbits name was Lucky, which considering the circumstances of his demise, he was certainly not!

Now I wonder as its the first of the month and I said white rabbits three times this morning, should I buy a ticket in today’s Thai lottery draw?

Well, I learned something today. I never knew about the white rabbit superstition. And what a cutie… though a sad ending.

Angie welcome and thank you for stopping by. Lucky was a rather handsome beast and I was sad at his rather untimely and gruesome end.
