Brush Salesman in Thailand

Brush salesman with a tricycle carrying the brooms he is selling

This travelling brush salesman called at my house in Thailand the other day. He’s quite a colourful character, typical of travelling salesmen around the world.

He rides a tricycle to carry all his wares announcing his presence with an annoying little air horn that sure to grab your attention.

The brushes, like many used in Thailand, are all made from natural materials that include bamboo, reeds and long grasses. The only artificial parts of the product are the colourful bindings applied after manufacture. Great for recycling since 99% of the brush is biodegradable.

If you look closely at the photograph you can see there are several different types pf brush or broom. Coarse ones for the yard, softer short handled ones for tiled floors and long handled brushes for getting up under the eaves of your home.

His smile is so bright! Should be able to cheer everyone up who he meets on that day!

    Hi Mike,

    Wonderful picture!
    He looks so happy.

These sort of salesmen are unfortunately non-existing in Scandinavia nowadays. When I was a child however, we had a travelling salesmen stopping by once a month who repaired knives and scissors.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Best regards
    Asta

I can find all these in Malaysia. We share almost the same culture on this.

Jam I am sure he has that effect.

Asta I too remember the same from the UK when I was a child!!

Rainfield yes I am not surprised I think travelling salesmen are still a big feature throughout Asia.
