Black-Winged Stilt feeding in shallow water Thailand

The Black -Winged Stilt(Himantopus himantopus) is a wader found mainly around the coastal regions of Central Thailand although it also a winter migrant to some more inland areas of the North East. This bird was photographed at disused shrimp ponds near Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Very easy to identify due to pink legs and in this case the distinct black and white plumage. Females, non breeding males and juveniles are less distinct in their markings.

Equipment: Canon EOS 1000D 55-250mm Lens
