Lucky Money Pots

Pots in Buddhist temple where you place coins for good luck
Thai people are quite superstitious and will go to great lengths to create good luck. In this shot you can see lots of bowls that contain coins. By placing a small Thai coin in each pot it is believed the person will receive good luck. Incidentally the coins 50 Satang (half a Baht) are supplied and reused so you don't have to provide your own cash!

It's actually an interesting idea. Kind of like throwing a coin in a wishing well. I wonder if this would work for me.

About the Photographer

My Photo
Mike Rose
I have lived in Thailand since I retired from teaching in the UK in January 2008. Home is a bungalow about 2km from the Gulf of Thailand and 8km south of the town of Prachuap Khiri Khan. I am one of the few foreigners that live in this area. I am a keen birder and photographer although I have a lot to learn about both subjects! I also enjoy blogging and visiting temples and other cultural and wildlife sites in the country. I am trying to learn the Thai language, but I think you could say that it remains a work in progress.
