Thai Baby Ritual

Thai baby ritual shaving babies head

Shaving a month old babies head is a ritual many Thai families participate in. Here my neighbours son get the treatment from the local shaman. The hair is wrapped in a lotus leaf and placed under a water container to bring good luck and a calm life.

Later in life when the baby, Noi, is a grown man and wishes to take ordination as a Buddhist monk he will once again have his hair and eyebrows shaved.
