Waterboatmen in a Muddy Pond Thailand

There are several muddy ponds around the coconut groves where I live in Nong Hin Thailand. A lot depends on the time of the year since the wet areas usually disappear in November at the start of the cool season.

This shot was taken back in October 2008 when there was plenty of water for the insects to dance on.

Hi Mike, Pond life, another world totally alien to most of us. Walking on water is normal there!

These insects are really scary to look at

    And quite stunning view

Martin to think I escaped the UK because of the “pond life.”

Roentarre, only when you see them close up!

These are water striders, not waterboatmen. Water sriders skate along the surface only, while waterboatmen can also dive under water.
