Boat Across the Mekong.

On one of my trips around Thailand I visited the Golden Triangle where the borders of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos meet. Laos and Thailand are separated by the Mekong River at this point.

During my stay I took a dragon boat ride across the mighty Mekong to an island on the Laos side of the river. One novelty provided was this post box so you could send cards to friends to say you had been to the country even though you did not go through immigration.

That’s pretty cool. I’ve only ever left my country twice in my entire life. And that was to visit Canada, which isn’t much different. I did get to stand in three of our states at the same time though. That last one usually would inspire a few fat jokes. :)
